TULALIP — Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon and 44th District state Rep. Mike Hope will be tackling the issues facing the county, its residents and its businesses during the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce’s Candidate Forum.
The forum will take place during the Chamber’s monthly Business Before Hours in the Canoes Cabaret of the Tulalip Resort Casino, which runs from 7-9 a.m. on Sept. 30. The event is intended to give both candidates for Snohomish County Executive — incumbent Reardon and challenger Hope — an opportunity to answer questions from an audience and each other.
SMOKEY POINT — Graham Kerr, local author and TV personality, will be the headline speaker at noon during the Stillaguamish Senior Center’s annual Health and Social Services Fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 28.

ARLINGTON — Sound Salmon Solutions is continuing its clean-up efforts along the Stillaguamish River, and it’s looking for more volunteers to help pick up plastic bottles, styrofoam containers, paper bags and other junk from the Blue Stilly put-in point.
The waterways cleanup at the Blue Stilly fishing access point will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 17.

Good walking trails can greatly increase the enjoyment of your property for you and your family, as well as providing access for maintenance, fire control, etc. Join WSU Extension forestry educators and trail experts from EarthCorps to learn how to properly build and maintain trails through different types of terrain, and what tools and materials are required. This will be an outdoor, hands-on workshop where you will get to practice working on an actual trail, learn to build a footbridge and more.
Dale Carman, airport supervisor for the Arlington Municipal Airport, has been awarded the distinction of Accredited Airport Executive by the American Association of Airport Executives.
To qualify for this distinction, Carman had to successfully complete three phases of the accreditation process, from passing a 180-item multiple-choice examination and fulfilling a writing requirement to demonstrating, in his final interview by a panel of AAEs, his knowledge of airport management, business administration and general transportation economics.
Carman’s achievement attests to his ability to meet these stringent requirements and his experience in managing a public airport.
ARLINGTON — Open Door Theatre, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is staging a garage sale starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, in the parking lot of Pioneer Elementary in Arlington, located at 8213 Eaglefield Dr., just west of Highway 9, at the entrance to the Gleneagle housing development.
