A resident of Arlington Heights, Pat Oakes is secretary providing leadership for the recently established Tulalip Afternoon Chapter of Le Tip, along with Noah Belhumeur, president; Mark Liechty, vice president and Troy Clark, tip master. They meet Wednesdays for lunch at Bob’s Burgers & Brew.

Le Tip is a networking organization that promises to “put dollars in your pocket.”

It’s an interesting and well-developed strategy where members are always on the lookout for potential jobs for their fellow members. They get rewarded for bringing guests, i.e. potential new members, who would expand their reach and they get rewards for bringing business tips for their fellow members every week.

Membership is limited to one person in each professional field.

The new group is looking for a certified public accountant this week; each week they identify a need among the group and they all go searching for a new member in that field.

At each meeting, members sell themselves and each other. If they hire a fellow member, they give a sells pitch on behalf of that member.

On Feb. 25, Oakes was the member speaker, and she got more than the standard 30 seconds to talk about her business. Oakes works for Weller Funeral Home and Dignity Memorial.

“You’ll all need this service eventually,” Oakes reminded her fellow Le Tip club members.

The club has a mechanic, a handyman, a home decor consultant, massage therapist, printer, an Edward Jones representative and an insurance salesman, among others.

They attend mixers with other regional Le Tip groups to expand their potential for marketing and they seem to have a lot of fun in the process.

“I learned last night what is an extreme wrap,” Oakes said. “And it’s not a sandwich,” she added.

The regional coordinator of Le Tip, Doug Elburn said there are several different Le Tip groups in north Snohomish County. For information when and where they meet, call Elburn at 800-538-4711 or e-mail to elburn@letip.com.
