Arlington – Robert (Bob) Sullenberger has been selected by the city of Arlington for the new police chief.

“We are pleased to find a police chief with Bob’s skills and qualifications,” said Mayor Margaret Larson. “He is an excellent fit for us and will be instrumental in helping address some very challenging issues.”

Sullenberger was one of 38 initial applicants for the position and six finalists that underwent a long and rigorous hiring process coordinated by Prothman Company of Seattle. The process included multiple interviews by council members, community members, city staff, department membership, City Administrator Allen Johnson and the Mayor.

Sullenberger is a 29-year veteran of law enforcement, having served his entire career with the Boulder Police Department. Sullenberger has risen through the ranks of the Boulder Police Department, where he most recently served as Deputy Chief of Police for Operations. Sullenberger holds a bachelor’s degree in Police Science from New Mexico State University. “Arlington is a wonderful community and has an excellent police department. I’m looking forward to getting started,” said Sullenberger. Sullenberger will report for duty March 2.
