ARLINGTON — The city of Arlington will be collecting input Thursday, May 20, on the long-range planning of the Smokey Point area.

City officials will be on hand at the Stillaguamish Senior Center (18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington) at 5 p.m. to discuss and collect ideas on its plan to redevelop the western region of the city.

That area includes Smokey Point, West Bluff and Island Crossing portions of Arlington.

The city hired an independent contractor last year to develop a plan that could one day shape how those areas of Arlington look.

Preliminary plans include widening sections of Smokey Point Boulevard, adding more trails, connecting a number of side streets and creating an “urban center” similar to what was developed in Mill Creek.
