State patrol seeking witnesses of I-5 motorcycle crash which killed Stanwood man

Washington State Patrol officials are investigating a deadly collision on Interstate 5 that claimed the life of a 51-year-old Stanwood man on May 19.

SMOKEY POINT — Washington State Patrol officials are investigating a deadly collision on Interstate 5 that claimed the life of a 51-year-old Stanwood man on May 19.

Detectives from the state patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team are looking for witnesses who saw the events leading up to the collision, which took place just before 1:30 p.m. near mile post 205 on northbound I-5.

Scott Weber was killed in the crash after the motorcycle he was piloting crashed into a construction vehicle.

The collision caused 15-mile backups that stretched from Arlington to Everett until the accident was cleared just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Washington State Department of Transportation officials.

Weber was initially transported to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle where he later died.
