Oso businesses struggle with slide aftermath

OSO — While many of the businesses in Oso are no strangers to surmounting obstacles presented by surrounding environmental conditions, from floods to the area’s previous slide within the past decade, the March 22 slide across State Route 530 has them in a bind the likes of which they’ve never dealt with before.

DARRINGTON — The Washington State Department of Transportation recognized the need for another route in and out of Darrington, so after five weeks of slide detours that added multiple hours and hundreds of miles to motorists’ commutes, WSDOT opened the Seattle City Light Access Road to local and emergency traffic starting at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, to bypass the section of State Route 530 still blocked by the slide.

Snohomish County releases preliminary election results

In the wake of the special election on Tuesday, April 22, the city of Arlington looks to be passing its proposed permanent levy lid lift, while the Lakewood School District is on the knife’s edge of possibly passing its proposed building bond to improve Lakewood High School, on its second time on the ballot.

Arlington Police take back drugs April 26
