ARLINGTON The first baby born in 2008 at Cascade Valley Hospital was a relatively late New Years baby, since he wasnt born until 6:13 p.m. Jan. 2, but Marysville residents Dennis and Mindy Capiendo consider their new son, Jaden Matthew Capiendo, well worth the wait.
ARLINGTON The Arlington Library bid farewell to the holiday season with a series of programs for children on winter break, but branch manager Kathy Bullene explained that January still holds plenty of programs for kids and adults alike.
MARYSVILLE Lakewood School Superintendent Larry Francois said his district would need to make some $3 million to $4 million in budget cuts should voters ultimately decide against renewal of an existing maintenance and operating levy.
The Cascade Valley Hospital, Support 46, and Fire District 19 Food and Toy Drive was a big success, reports firefighter and emergency medical technician Tori McBride, who also volunteers with Support 46. The collaboration of efforts resulted in 375 pounds of food, 34 items of clothing, 287 toys, 29 baby items, 52 stuffed animals and 57 miscellaneous items. All this came from the drive at the hospital, McBride said, while thanking everyone who donated, especially the Arlington Fire Department and its Santa Run, the North County Fire and EMS Food & Toy Drive, Support 46 Food & Toy Drive and firefighter Chris Meshke for sitting in for Santa. She also thanked Wellers Family Restaurant and OBriens Turkey House as well as the entire community for its support.
ARLINGTON Longtime Arlington resident James Donald Regan passed away Dec. 26 at the age of 83, but he lives on in the memories of his family, friends and community.
