Donald Jay Boespflug

Donald Jay Boespflug, of Everett, died Feb. 8, 2007, after a 21 month battle with leiomyosarcoma.
Donald was a native Seattleite through and through. He attended St. Matthews grade school in Seattle, where he would occasionally switch places with his twin brother, Dennis. Always competitive, he ran cross-country for Blanchet High School, setting several school records. As a young man, he worked at the Edgewater Inn and loved to play soccer, proud to earn the occasional red card. In 1978, he married his wife, Karen, and began his career at the Boeing Company. He worked his way up to become the manager of the Calibration/Certification Lab for the Everett plant and was highly respected for his hard work ethic and sense of fairness.
Don devoted the latter half of his life to his wife and three children. Although camping was never his forte (in his mind, roughing it was a Motel 6), the family took several magical, memorable trips to Disneyland. To Don, it truly was the happiest place on Earth. He asked no more than these vacations, a drive in his steel-blue Impala SS, and being involved in the lives of his beloved family. Donald was characterized by a passion and dignity that sustained him through his living and his dying.
Donald is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Matthew (Linnea), of Mount Vernon, Wash., Erin (Dustin) Nowak, of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and Megan (Daniel) Munson, of Warner-Robbins Air Force Base, Ga.; two grandchildren, Madeline Josephine Nowak and Gabriel Marshall Nowak; his mother, Margaret Boespflug, of Everett; and his five siblings, Roberta Jacobs, Ann Cunnington, Dennis Boespflug, Dolores Bullard and David Boespflug.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Boespflug; and his brother-in-law, Gordan Jacobs.
Viewing was from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. A Rosary followed at 7 p.m. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, at St. Marys Catholic Church, in Marysville.
