Doris Mae Schenaker

Jesus called his daughter, Doris Mae Schenaker home to heaven on March 20, 2007, after a long bout with cancer.
She was born in El Centro, Calif., on Jan. 20, 1931, to Harold and Helen (Wagner) Lounsbury. She spent her childhood years in Everett, Seattle and Arlington, graduating from Arlington High School in 1949. Next Doris graduated from Washington State College majoring in Elementary Education.
Doris married Jack Schenaker on Sept. 6, 1952. She accompanied him to homes in Europe, Puerto Rico, the continental United States and Hawaii while Jack served in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years. After Jacks retirement, they returned to school, graduating from Seattle Bible College and Fuller Theological Seminary of Pasadena, Calif.
Doris taught classes at Seattle Bible College in missions, communication and English as a Second Language (ESL) for 13 years. She also served on the Board of Directors at the same college. Doris was like a mother to many of her students, sharing love, acceptance, encouragement and wise counsel.
Doris was active in her church and other Christian groups such as the American Indian Fellowship and Aglow International. Many recent summers were filled with mission trips to Uganda, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, teaching and evangelizing for her Lord Jesus, bringing hope to her students. She was gifted in interceding in prayer and discipling new and mature Christians. Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31.
Her other interests included quilting, golfing and organizing and hosting elegant dinners.
Doris is survived by her husband, Jack; daughter, Diane (Schenaker) Gaston and family of Leb anon, Oregon; son, Michael Schenaker and family of Fairfax, Va.; and her sister JoAnn Kettel and family of Deer Park.
A memorial service will be held on April 22, 2007 at 3:30 p.m., at Sonrise Chapel, 11625 Airport Road, Everett.
Memorials may be sent to Seattle Bible College or Providence Hospice of Snohomish County. A private family burial will be held at an earlier date.
