Eula Mae James passed away at home on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, after a courageous battle against ALS.
She was born May 7, 1933, in Bloomington, Ill., the youngest of Dorothy (Kewley) and Silas Quicks three children. In March of 1953, she married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Gerald Gerry James. Her abiding devotion to her husband and children was her lifes joy.
Eula Mae was an accomplished homemaker who nurtured friends and family with warmth and hospitality. She was an excellent cook, a fine gardener and an avid reader. She loved laughter and was known for her generosity, always putting others before herself.
Eula Mae was a strong supporter of the Friends of the Mukilteo Library and worked hard to bring the library back to the Mukilteo community. She was a patron of the arts, enjoying the Village Theatre at the Everett Performing Arts Center as well as many concerts and performances of her grandchildren. She took an active leadership role in many charitable events through the Everett Golf & Country Club and was the 1998 Captain of the Womens Division.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ila Jean Dulin; and her granddaughter, Keliana Joy Steidl.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Gerry James; her four children, Judy James Steidl (Frank), of Escondido, Calif.; Steve James (Laurie), of Acton, MA; Janet James Walrath (Jim), of Arlington, Wash.; and Bradley James (Colleen), of Hamden, Cont. She leaves a legacy of love to her 13 grandchildren, Katy, Bethany, Jenna, and Joe Steidl, Taylor and Nolan James, Andrew, Erin and Matthew Walrath and Christina, Rebecca, Amanda and Eric James. She leaves her beloved brother, Dyrle Quick, of Long Beach, Calif.; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephew.
Family and friends are invited to a joyous celebration of her life at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at the Everett Golf & Country Club.
