Karl Edward Kotter

Karl Kotter passed away on July 1, 2007. A glorious homecoming in Heaven for Karl, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Karl was born in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov., 28, 1938, to Donald and Neva Kotter. He attended Wilson High School, graduating in 1956.
He leaves his loving wife, Jean (Herring) Kotter, sons, Ken and Randy; step-daughters, Gayle (David) Carpenter and Ralene (Andrew) Challinar; two grandchildren, Nicholas Kotter and Tricia (Carlos) Guadarrama; and great-grandchild, Kimberly.
He had a special relationship with his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Herring.
Karl worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1992, after 36 years. He held the position of tour superintendent in California, and coming to Everett in 1985, was manager of Mail Processing, finishing his career as Postmaster of Granite Falls, Wash.
After retirement, he began volunteering at Providence Medical Center, Colby Campus, with the Heart to Heart Program and visited hundreds of cardiac patients in his tenure there. He volunteered at Loma Linda Medical Center with the Mended Hearts Program in California in the winter months. He also volunteered with the North Snohomish County visitor information center.
Karl loved sports, especially track and field and basketball. He was the Assistant Coach of the Grace Academy JV boys basketball team and the high school girls basketball team.
The overwhelming testimony of Karls life was one of steadfast trust in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Karl believed he was going to pass from this life to life eternal, and he lived it. He was committed to God and His purposes, and he never wavered.
A memorial Service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2007, at First Baptist Church, Arlington, Wash. A reception for family and friends at the home of Stephen and Barbara Johnson, Arlington, followed.
