TULALIP — The Arlington girls golf team played a 15-hole, par 61 course at Battle Creek Golf Course on Wednesday, May 1, against fellow Wesco 4A North schools Lake Stevens, Snohomish, Mount Vernon and Monroe.

Arlington shot a 474 as a team, with freshman Emmi Modahl leading the group with an 81.

“Modahl is still a freshman and she has very high expectations of herself,” said Arlington JV coach Marla Quesnell. “Right now she is in seventh place in Wesco North.”

Arlington girls golf is a young group compared to last season.

“We lost quite a few kids last year,” said  Quesnell. “We have one senior on our team this year, Haley Duran, who never played  golf before. She has been doing a great job and is currently our No. 2 player.”

The Lady Eagles have three new players on the team this year — Chloe Holdredge, Carly Robbins and Natalie Mackey.

“All of these girls have great potential,” said Quesnell. “It all depends on how much time they put into it.”

Madi Grogan, sister to Arlington’s previous state golf competitor Lauren Grogan, and Macall McGhee are golfing third and fourth for the Eagles, and steadily improving.

“They are both great leaders and very solid players. What I really appreciate about this team is how much of a dedicated and close knit group they are,” said Quesnell.”

Lake Stevens scored 417, while Snohomish scored 444 and Mount Vernon scored 454. Duran shot a 98, Grogan shot a 93, Robbins shot a 100 and McGhee shot a 102.
