M-P, Arlington, MG all win big in football

Marysville

Marysville-Pilchuck will play Ballard, the No. 7 seed from the Metro League, at home Friday at 7 to open postseason play after earning the top seed in Wesco with a 52-3 thrashing of Snohomish last Friday.

Snohomish, 5-4, was the top seed from the Wesco South, while M-P, 9-0, won the North.

Senior tailback Jordan Justice got M-P off to a quick start with 53-yard and 36-yard scoring runs in the first quarter.

After senior quarterback Jake Elwood scored from 1 yard, he then threw a pass to senior receiver Dillon Kuk, who ran it in for the 47-yard play. Justice scored again from 32 yards, before the Panthers ended the half with their only points, a 43-yard field goal.

In the third quarter, Elwood threw another TD pass, this one for 34 yards to senior tight end Terren Pablo. Senior kicker Edgar Martinez also connected on a 29-yard field goal that period.

Justice scored his fourth TD of the game in the last quarter, this time on a 60-yard interception return.

On offense, Justice only carried the ball 7 times for 142 yards. Sophomore fullback Dylan Carson rushed for 73 yards on 9 tries.

The two scoring passes were the only completions for Elwood in 8 attempts.

Three Snohomish QBs combined for 7 for 24 for just 43 yards and 3 interceptions.

The Tommies defense held them to 76 rushing yards on 34 tries.

Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell will end its season Thursday after whipping Lynnwood 44-18. The Chargers play at 7 p.m. at Kamiak, which won its first game of the season last Friday.

Against the Royals, Cheron Smith carried the ball 13 times for 83 yards and 2 TDs. Landyn Olsen caught four passes for 90 yards and had an interception. The Chargers are 5-4.

Dominic Andrews scored on a 30-yard fumble return to put MG on the board, followed by a 5-yard Smith run and Olson’s 33-yard reception from QB Caleb Blonk. Phillip Melomey scored on a 9-yard run before Smith scored from 7 yards. Cameron Hazelwood hit a 32-yard field goal to end the scoring.

Blonk was 7 for 10 passing for 119 yards. Austin Byron ran the ball 4 times for 52 yards.

Arlington

Arlington, 7-2, will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Peninsula despite an impressive 63-42 win at home last Friday.

QB Trent Nobach threw 7 TD passes in the victory over Meadowdale. He his on 12 of 14 passes for 324 yards.

With the win, the Eagles earned Wesco’s No. 5 seed. Nobach threw TD passes to Joseph Schmidt for 28 yards, Chase Petersen for 20 yards, Michael Tsoukalas for 5 yards, Cade Younger for 67 and 41 yards, Luke Brown for 28 yards and Jaden Roskelley for 20 yards. Roskelley also ran the ball in from 68 yards and 8 yards. He carried the ball 19 times for 172 yards. Younger caught 3 passes for 106 yards, Schmidt 4 for 99 and Roskelley 3 for 54.

Lakewood

The Chargers had a bye by virtue of placing second in the Northwest League. They play at home at 7 p.m. Friday against Liberty.
