Eunice Edith Welch

Eunice Darley, 95, from Darrington, Wash., died Nov. 17, 2007, in Stanwood, Wash.
Born Eunice Edith Welch, in Colorado Springs, Colo., Sept 5, 1912, she spent an adventurous life as an outdoor enthusiast and world traveler.
Eunice raised two sons while working as an artist, craftsperson, welder and teacher in Kent, England, Italy, Germany and Darrington. Retiring from teaching at Neah Bay, Wash., in 1984 she moved onto her 20 acres outside Darrington for 13 years of living in the woods, continuing her passion for travel, lifelong learning and making many new friends in the area. In 1997, she moved into a house in town, slowing down on the travel, but continuing to make friends and taking part in the life of the town.
Eunice is survived by her two sons, Damon and Larry Darley, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial at the Darrington Community Center, Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a story circle at 3. Everyone who knew and cared about her is invited.
