Five young Arlington baseball players were recently selected to attend Cal Ripken Jr. baseball camp, to be held in Washington DC on Ripkens estate. The kids received grants from the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation which promotes youth baseball in America. Each child will get a receive instruction from nationally recognized coaches including Cal himself.

ARLINGTON As the second recreational league game in the Aug. 15 doubleheader got underway, Menzel Lakes potent offense struck early and often against the Wrecking Crew. Menzel never trailed and tallied a whopping 27-2 victory.

The Darrington girls volleyball team played in the 2B tri-district playoffs at Edmonds-Woodway High School on Nov. 2-3.
Moving up to varsity for the district playoffs did not faze freshman forward Alisha Stott one bit. She came on as a substitute during the Oct. 31 game against the South Whidbey Lions and proceeded to score the game winning goal for the Cougars. Lakewood went on to win a hard-fought game 2-0, after a late penalty kick from Amanda Nunley.
The Darrington Logger football team continued their stellar play this season with a 52-17 thrashing of Seattle Lutheran in the first round of the 2B District playoffs.
In what looked to be a sure victory, the Arlington Eagles girls soccer team lost to Sedro-Woolley Lady Cubs Oct. 30 at Mount Vernon in the district playoffs.
The Arlington Eagles football team competed favorably with the Auburn Trojans for one half during their Nov. 2 clash. The teams went into the locker room with Auburn leading 14-7 and it appeared as though the Eagles might spring a big upset. But the second half was dominated by the Trojans as Auburn pulled away for a 34-7 victory.
