The third time was the charm for Lakewood soccer, as the Cougars finally defeated conference archnemesis Cedarcrest, 1-0, to win the district championship May 10.

Lakewood athletes were named conference champs in eight events when Cedarcrest hosted the Cascade Conference track and field championships May 7 and 9.
SNOHOMISH Arlington had two league champions and collected a slew of other awards at the Western Conference championships May 7 and 9.

LAKEWOOD On a dreary gray day, the Lakewood track team took on Cedarcrest, Coupeville and Granite Falls in an important late-season meet. In addition to winning both the boys and girls overall team scores, Lakewood produced a number of impressive individual performances.
Despite a relatively small group of returners, Arlington baseball coach Doug Plucker is counting on some experience at pitcher to help his teams fortunes.
The Arlington boys tennis team put up quite a fight in their rescheduled match with Marysville-Pilchuck on Oct. 12. They came up just short, losing 4-3 at Marysville.
The Arlington Eagles girls soccer team came out flat and stayed that way during their match against Everett. Missing a good opportunity to stoke their playoff chances against 3A competition, the Eagles misfired on their few chances and wound up suffering a 2-0 defeat to a motivated, energetic Seagull squad.
The ever improving Eagles volleyball team again showed how far it has come this season. It wasnt enough against a strong Stanwood team as Arlington went down 3-1. The Eagles have yet to win in the Wesco North this year, although their progress as the season has gone on is marked. They gave Stanwood a real run for their money but could not match the Spartans consistency in hitting at the end.
The Lakewood Youth Football Association Peewee Cougars disposed of yet another opponent and concluded their 2007 season undefeated.
