On Saturday, Nov. 10, at Mount Vernon High School the Arlington Junior Gold Flying Eagles won a defensive battle against the 8-1 Burlington Tigers in the NCYFL League Championship, the Super Bowl of youth football. The Tigers sought payback for their only defeat this year, a 26-12 loss at the hands of Arlington early in the season.
The Darrington Logger basketball team has a core group of six returners from last years semi-finalists in the State B tournament. The seniors will be expecting to make a similar run, perhaps even trumping last years lofty finish.
New rules and regulations on Washington wrestling have made the competitions safer and more competitive for all participants. A new weigh-in system will be measuring body fat for the first time, metering down the wrestlers ambitions of cutting large amounts of weight. The days of crash-cutting weight may be over as boys will need to maintain a minimum 7 percent body fat, girls 12 percent to participate in the sport.

Its a good year to be Arlingtons head boys basketball coach as Nick Brown will quickly point out. The cupboard is stocked with returning players, including some of last years top performers. The team has a good blend of size and speed and should compete favorably in a packed Wesco North conference.
The Darrington Logger volleyball team had a strong finish at the State 2B tournament held Nov. 9-10 in Yakima, Wash.
The Highland Christian Prep girls basketball team took to the court Jan. 11 with a purpose.
In a rough and tumble girls basketball game the Lakewood Cougar girls did just enough to win Jan. 8.
Kent Smith is a self-described former bike shop rat who never could escape the bike scene. He coordinates a team of cyclists in Snohomish County that represents cyclocross, road biking, and mountain biking. The Bicycle Centers/Collision One team consists of men, women, and children of all ages, competing in a wide variety of cycling events.
LAKEWOOD The 23rd annual Hole in the Wall Lakewood invitational was a success for the Arlington Eagles cross country team.
The Arlington Runners Clubs inaugural Marine Corps Toys for Tots fun run entertained an estimated 100 people, Saturday, Dec. 16.
WTA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
The Arlington Eagles wrestling went 1-1 in their Dec. 19-21 matches with a makeup victory over Shorecrest and Shorewood and a league loss to Everett.
