ARLINGTON — The Arlington boys and girls track teams both grabbed the top places in the April 21 tri-meet they hosted against Oak Harbor and Marysville-Pilchuck.

The Arlington boys tallied 88 points for the first-place finish. They were followed by Oak Harbor with 53 and Marysville-Pilchuck with 40. On the girls’ side, Arlington finished in first with 88 points, Oak Harbor was second with 53 and M-P came in third with 48.

“It was a great team effort and those two really stood out as individuals,” said Judd Hunter, head coach, referring to Dan Boyden and Melissa Webb.  Boyden’s toss of 163.05 in the discus broke the school record of 159.10 set in 2006 by Jared Dukelth. Webb was a four-event winner including the 100 meters, the 4×100 relay, the long jump and the triple jump.

For the Arlington boys, Devante Gaillard finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.59. Gaillard also placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.55. James Clark and Andrew Bosket finished 1 and 3, respectively, in the 1,600 meters with times of 4:43.71 and 4:52.90. Kaleb Bryson finished second in the 3,200 meters in 10:50.84. Arlington had a 1-2-3 finish in the 110 meter hurdles with Derek Sweeney taking first in 16.39, followed by Dillon Gongliewski in 16.86 and Jared Alskog in 17.11. Max Gray placed first in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 43.28.

Connor Cummings, Skylor Elgarico, Alskog and Gaillard teamed up to grab second place in the 4×100 relay with a time of 44.98. Taking first place in the 4×400 relay was the team of Bosket, Alskog, James Clark and Brandon Cotton with a time of 3:37.49.

With his school record-setting throw of 163.05, Boyden placed first in the discus. He also grabbed first place in the shot put with a throw of 49-02. Blake Peterson finished third in the shot put with a throw of 44-05.00. Arlington took the top three finishes in the javelin with Blake McPherson taking first with a throw of 185-01, followed by Max Bryson at 165-07 and AJ Passalacqua at 153-10.

Bryson also took top honors in the high jump when he cleared 5-10.00. Cummings finished in third in the pole vault at 12-06.00. Lucas Revelle won the triple jump at 40-02.50. In the long jump, Arlington once again claimed the top three spots with Elgarico in first at 20-07.50, Griffin Ginnis in second at 20-02.00 and Cummings in third at 19-08.50.

For the girls, Melissa Webb finished in first place in the 100 meters in a time of 13.49 followed by Diamond Martin who finished in third with a time of 13.65. Martin also finished in third place in the 200 meters with a time of 27.86.  With a time of 1:04.44, CJ Taylor finished in second place in the 400 meters. Teresa Wadey took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.73. In the 100 meter hurdles, Kylie Swegle finished first with a time of 16.91 followed by Sheltyn Rose who finished third with a time of 17.50. In the 300 meter hurdles, Katie Anderson came in second with a time of 49.52, followed by Rose in third with a time of 49.55.

Webb, Anderson, Martin and McKenzie Corpron teamed up to take first place in the 4×100 relay with a time of 51.95. Corpron, Anderson, Rose and Wadey finished third in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:51.49 and Taylor, Wadey, Kristin Wregglesworth and Kyle Kilmer ran a 4:28.12 which earned them third place in the 4×400 relay.

The Arlington throwers had a good day with Marissa Swegle and Lyndsay Leatherman taking first and second, respectively, in the shot put with throws of 37-11.00 and 31-05.50. Taking the top three spots in the discus were Alexis Sarver, 122-03, Swegle, 100-04 and Leatherman, 94-06. The Eagles also finished 1-2-3 in the javelin with Stephanie Van Slageren taking first with 115-00, Leatherman in second at 111-09, and Leslee Graves in third at 96-03.

In the high jump, Sarver cleared 4-10.00 for first place and Swegle cleared 4-06.00 for third place. Molly Rard placed second in the pole vault at 8-00.00, followed by Graves who placed third at 7-06.00. Webb finished in first palce in the triple jump at 34-02.50 followed by Sarver who finished in second at 33-01.00. Webb also finished in first in the long jump at 16-06.00.
